from the air space

the familiar sighting of an unfamiliar temple,
the vast expanse of the blue-tin shed slum,
the existence of a city unparalleled,
...touchdown mumbai!

The fall of the giant named Bin Laden

The fall of the mighty giant! Osama Bin Laden is dead, and how! A few hours ago, President Obama made the announcement that brought hope and joy to millions across the world, especially the Americans, who were wrought with despair in the aftermath of the 9/11, which brought the nation to a standstill nearly 10 years ago, shocking several across the world, because it was deemed that the US was going to remain unfazed and untouched by the terror outfits. Amidst conspiracy theories that Osama was a brainchild of the Bush administration and that the Pentagon was a smartly grafted attack, the anti-Laden emotions wrung in a second term for Bush.

Then came Barack Obama, who was born to save the world and air lift America out of the depression it had brought upon itself. Out came health insurances, policies benefitting the peoples. You get what the feel is? It was Yes, We Can, painted all over town! Not only in the Americas, but world over. Obama had hit the world like a Tsunami, with debatable effects of course. Bangalore would get Bangalored, and would trip on their own shoe laces. The Obama effect continued when he was honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize, which many thought was unwarranted for.

But the biggest feather on Obamas' feather studded cap would be the fall of the mighty giant, Osama Bin Laden, a 10 year nemesis of the world, especially the US. What is remarkable is the impeccable timing of his fall. According to the Indian news tickers, the news of the death of this giant was applauded with cheers of the crowds outside screaming for a 2nd term for Obama. Very timely, indeed! There were also a few news reports suggesting earlier about a bio warfare breaking out if and when Osama was captured or killed. The warfare has been overshadowed with a more preeminent situation. The fact that Osama was found outside Islamabad, outside Abottabad, around 30 kms from a Pakistan Military Academy, brings to fore, what the Indians have always prided themselves in saying, and the big question that looms ahead of us, was the Pakistan administration providing a safe haven to Bin Laden?

lost ones

the unwilling have left

yet again, the summery day glowers down at them

them basking in the glorious epochal on the summer night

a far away cry hath not heard

the bellow of a woman who lost all but not

dread and misery crawl on

catching up with her, beating her.

political conundrum

A two party system seems like a distant dream today after looking at the questionable state of our democratic rule. Come May 16th... we will witness another round of the "who own the power" game. With every party shifting sides quicker than changing clothes in summer and with what finesse, there is no room for a stable and a secure bond to exist between any two parties. I am sure the parties themselves would have lost count of the number of alliances they have shiftedin the past few years. The conviction to do something for the nation and its people seems to have died. It is only I - MY POWER - MY EGO. At this time when two big parties and the several others are forming fronts in the power game, several independent contestants are participating in the elections, which come as a breather. And to determine how well they fare and if they get into the big league - will their conviction remain, is a distant thought. Will the big sharks of politics chew up these small fishes? Yes, in all probability. Politics and pol games are fun to watch! Yes, they are!

to n

of unaccepted friend requests

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.

I wish:
Up got Jack, and home did trot As fast as he could caper
He went to bed and bound his head
With vinegar and brown paper.

The koel is symbolic of one who does not have any loyalties with anybody and is supposedly cunning (lazy also: keeps her eggs in another birds nest till it hatches, ptsssh! Cant even do its own motherly job.)

Michele is a koel. The worst of the lot. All she can do is coo to other people and then coo to herself.
